Has our Ex-Prime Minister got it all wrong? I have decided to pen my thoughts on my first post in my pocket diary for the month of March. For those of you who have followed our ex-PM blog at www.chedet.cc, you would have notice that since last year, he has in numerous times asked for the resignation of our Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi. Our ex-PM also mentioned that PM Abdullah has lost the confidence of the coalition party after their worst performance during the last elections. He have repeatedly asked PM Abdullah to hand over the leadership to DPM Najib Razak as soon as possible in order that the country will not fall to the opposition party during the next General Elections.
Now....let me make it very clear here. I know there are a lot of people who have their own views and opinions on our ex-PM but for me, to be honest all human beings will have done mistakes in their lives. I have always try to look at the positive side of a person and in my humble opinion, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed have done a lot of things during his tenure that has improve Malaysia overall. I don't doubt that he might have done various mistakes along the way as a PM but overall, I can see the changes he made to Malaysia. He did modernise Malaysia to a certain degree. I guess you guys cannot doubt this fact.
He has publicly admit that he has made a mistake in appointing PM Abdullah as the PM after him. That is the reason why he spend the whole last year talking in his blog and trying his best to ask our PM to resigned and hand over to DPM Najib. Now, the thing I am very curious here is whether he knows all about Najib and what he is capable of doing?
Anyway.....since Dr. Mahathir has rally for the last year (through his speeches at his blog and ceramahs ) until he succeeded in making PM Abdullah agree to hand over the leadership to Najib this year, he should be very happy and contented now. But.....is he really contented and happy actually now???
Now, since the last time PM Abdullah has agreed to hand over the leadership to Najib, a lot of incidents have happened around the country. The obvious unfairness in the state of Perak and alleged members of the opposition party bribed of millions of ringgit by the government are just a few things that have happened. Very recently, there was even a story from the French Newspaper La Liberation Report that mention that Najib has actually known Altantuya and have met her in Paris. This recent report does a lot of damage to Najib's credibility.
My question is did our ex-PM Dr. Mahathir expected all this things to surface? Most importantly, did Dr. Mahathir actually know that DPM Najib has so much "issues" ??
The interesting part is that after all this controversies involving Najib recently in the press, I have not seen a single post in Dr. Mahathir's blog commenting on his choice of the new PM Najib Razak. I just got a funny feeling that Dr. Mahathir is regretting on his actions and might be pondering whether he has made another BIG mistake (after he admitted he made a mistake in appointing PM Abdullah as his successor). Dr.Mahathir mentioned that in order for the people to trust the government again, PM Abdullah must resigned as soon as possible and let the new PM build back the confidence of the nation.
In my opinion and I might be wrong, but I strongly believe that if DPM Najib becomes the next PM, the next general election will see the opposition party emerge as the victorious party and thus create history in Malaysia since independence. The mood surrounding the country right now is not good for the coalition party.
Anyway, to my Dr. Mahathir (and I still have high respect for you because I look at the positive things you have contributed to our country), if you are reading this, will you please share if you still believe that Najib will be a better PM of Malaysia ??? I hope you will be honest.
